Granny Guinea was in the kitchen fixing supper. Blake asked, “Granny when can we go to Farmer Vic’s lettuce patch and get me a big round head of lettuce for Guineaween.”
“I think we can go in the morning,” said Granny.
That night Blake could not sleep. All he could think about was going to Farmer Vic’s lettuce patch. I’m going to get the biggest best lettuce that is in the patch Blake thought.
Bright and early Blake was out of bed. “Come on Granny let’s go to the lettuce patch.” “Hold on there Blake we have to eat breakfast, said Granny. “Oh, I’m gungry Granny.” “Well I’m hungry and I am going to eat, so you might as well eat to.
Blake sat down put some sliced carrots on his plate and clover. “Boy, this is good Granny, can I have the rest of the scambled celery?” asked Blake. “You sure ate a lot for some one that wasn’t hungry,” said Granny. “Yep,” answered Blake “every thing was sure good.
Out to the buggy and down the road to Farmer Vic’s lettuce patch they went. When they reached Farmer Vic’s there were hundreds of guineas in the patch picking out their lettuce.
“Oh Granny there is only little ones left and I wanted a big one.”
Just then “Farmer Vic walked up. “Why are you so late Blake,” asked Farmer Vic. Granny made me eat breakfast and I was not even hungry. Now there is only little ones to pick from.
“Now Blake you are my favorite little guinea and I have a surprise for you,” replied Farmer Vic.
Farmer Vic took Blake to the barn and opened the door. Inside on a wagon was the biggiest best lettuce that Farmer Vic had ever grown.
“Wow! said Blake “that is the biggest I have ever seen.
“Yes and I saved it for you,” said Farmer Vic. “For me,” replied Blake. Oh, thank you Farmer Vic you are the greatest.”
