The sun came shinning though the windows and Sandra rubs her eyes.  “Emily, Emily it’s Saturday, get up get up,”  shouted Sandra in excitment.  “We’re going to Grannys today hurry,” said Sandra.

Emily jumps out of bed and gets dressed.  Emily and Sandra runs down the hall and down the stairs “mommy, mommy is it time to go yet.”  “Yes,” said Mother but I want you to eat breakfast first.  As they ate their breakfast Vince asked, “mommy can Granny really talk to her animals?”  “Of course,”  said Emily, and Sandra shooting Vince a mean look “of course they can,” said Sandra “of course.”   “I hope they will talk to us to” Vince said.

The trip felt like it took forever Emily thought but there it was, a sign Granny’s Acres.  Mother turned the car into the long driveway.  Large Red Maple and Oak trees lined both sides of the driveway all the way up to Granny’s house.

“I love coming to Grannys,”  said Emily. “Yes,”  said Sandra “I like taking pictures of all the animals. ”  “I like to go fishing at Granny’s big pond,”  said vince.

Emily, Sandra and Vince jumped out of the car yelling Granny,  “Granny we love coming to see you. ”  ”Can we talk to the animals?” asked Vince.

Every one walked down to the barnyard where the children helped  Granny feed the animals.  “Granny I was talking to the horse and all he did was sound like a horse he didn’t talk to me,” said Emily.  “Yes,”  Sandra joined in and the ducks would only quack, the chickens only clucked and Zoie the cat would only meow.  Vince chimed in Granny I wanted to talk to Tickles but all he did was bark and jump around.

“That’s how the animal talk to you,” said Granny.  “Oh!” said Emily, Sandra and vince “we thought they could really talk like we do.”

Granny laughed, “how silly animals talk like us,” Granny said as she turns back towards the animals and gives them a wink and all the animals smiles and winks back.
