“Bobby, come here and look at the moon. It is so big and round,” cried Myrna the pig. Bobby came over and looked up. “Wow,” said Bobby, it is big, round and orange too.”

“Myrna,” said Bobby, “do you think someone is having a party up in the sky tonight?” “I don’t know,” said Myrna “maybe it is mad at us. It looks pretty scary to me. Let’s go ask Granny because Granny know everything.”

Grandpa and Granny was sitting in the swing enjoying the evening. “Granny, Granny whats wrong with the moon,” cried Bobby and Myrna as they came running across the back yard. It is so big, round, orange and scary to.” said Myrna.

“Slow down,” said Granny. “There isn’t anything wrong with the moon. When the moon is full, it is bright and it lights the night. “Then it is not mad at us and it is not going to come down and burn us with it’s big orange light?” said Myrna. “No, of course not,” said Granny “there is no reason to be scared of the moon, so you can go play and have lots of fun in the moon light.” “Thanks Granny,” said Myrna and Bobby as they raced back to their pens to play in the moonlight.

Well spring is here and the cold harsh winter is behind us thought Granny. Granny and Grandpa are working in the garden and getting it ready for planting. “Grandpa,” said Granny “let’s take a break and have a glass of lemonade.” “That sounds like a good idea Granny,” said Grandpa. Granny and Grandpa went and sat down at the table by the garden.

Sally the rabbit and her friend Thomas came hopping out of the field. ”What are you doing Granny,” said Sally. “We are getting the ground ready to plant our garden,” answered Granny. “Wow, Granny, it looks like a lot of work,” said Sally. “It is a lot of hard work but it is very rewarding and Grandpa and I like to eat fresh vegetables from the garden. I also like to can the vegetables for the winter.” said Granny.

“Granny, we like fresh vegetables from the garden to.” said Sally. “I know that is why Grandpa and I are planting a larger garden this year. We will have one part of the garden just for carrots, lettuce and cabbage just for you and your friends Sally.” “Just for us Granny?” yelled Sally hopping up and down. “Granny!” said Sally, “Grandpa and you are the greatest people we know. I think we should help plant the garden since some of it is for us,” said Sally. “Yes,” said Granny “that would be a lot of help.” Off hopped Sally and her friend Thomas to get more of their friends to come and help with planting the garden.

Granny and Grandpa went out into the corn field to pick corn. Granny said, “Grandpa, it looks like someone has been eating our corn.” Granny stood and looked around at the corn field. ”It doesn’t look like they ate much of the corn and there is still plenty for all the others animals.”

Granny and Grandpa started back to the truck when they saw a few little heads peeking though the corn at them. “Well hello,” said Granny to the little raccoons. “Hello,” answered the daddy raccoon. “We are sorry for getting into your corn field without asking, but we were very hungry.” “That’s okay,” answered Granny “we would not want anyone to go hungry and you only ate what you needed and did not waste any of the corn. We planted plenty of corn for everyone and now that we know there is a family of raccoons living on Granny’s acres, we will plant plenty again next year.

“What’s your name raccoon?” said Granny. “Most people call me Bandit and for some reason, they call my family the little outlaws” said Bandit. “we will be happy to help you plant corn next year to help make up for the corn we eat this year” said Bandit. “That sounds like a good idea and I could use the help,” said Grandpa.

“Bye Bandit and all the little outlaws” said Granny. ”It’s time for us to go home and fire up the kettle”. Then Grampa and Granny got in their old truck and went across the field back to their home to enjoy fresh corn on the cob for lunch.

“What a fine looking family you have there Mervin,” said Granny as she gave them some grain. ”Yes and I am proud of all of them,” quacked Mervin. “I think they all look like me,” Mervin said in excitment. “Yes they do,” Granny said laughing as Mervin Proudly looked after his and Dixie’s baby ducks.

All the baby ducks were having a fun time playing in the barnyard today. The warm sun made it a nice day for the baby ducks to be outside. They were all waddling around pecking at each other, jumping for bugs, running though the mud puddles and having a great time.

You poor little cat, thought Granny as she walked over to the cat. The cat was too weak to get up. Granny took the cat in her arms and put it on the back of the truck. “What happen to you little cat?” asked Granny.

“Oh, what a beautiful morning!” said Granny. “How would you like to go with me to do my chores today Poohbear?” Poohbear jumped around and around with excitement just thinking about going to the barnyard with Granny.

Poohbear is a puppy and had never been any farther than the backyard. The only animals Poohbear has played with so far was Jack the farm’s guard dog, Sweetie and Cinnamon two little female dogs that came over to Granny’s to play.

Today Poohbear was playing with the cats that thought Poohbear was a little on the silly side. Poohbear was having a good time when up came a white rooster named Colonel. Colonel thinks he runs things in the barnyard and he doesn’t like the idea of Poohbear messing around his domain. The Colonel walks over and looks at Poohbear and Poohbear stares back. It is time for a show-down. All of a sudden the rooster starts doing a little dance and then up in the air he flies and jumps at Poohbear. Poohbear yelps and Granny comes running to save Poohbear from the Colonel.

Granny picks up her broom and chases the Colonel away from Poohbear. Boy, that was a close one thought Poohbear. I am sure glad Granny was around or I would have had to hurt that rooster, Poohbear thought as he followed Granny back into the house where it was save.

Do you like stories about roosters? Granny has picked out some of her favorite stories about roosters.

It was a lovely Saturday morning and Granny had been taking care of her animals since 7:00 o’clock in the morning. I am getting a little hungry, Granny thought. I think I will go into the house and fix myself some lunch.

Granny turned around and saw her little dog Pooh-bear with a paper plate in his mouth. “So, you’re hungry too?” asked Granny. “Let’s go in and get some lunch” and into the house they went. Granny gave Pooh-bear some dog food in his bowl then went to fix herself a sandwich. Granny fixed a ham and cheese sandwich with chips. Granny poured herself a glass of milk and sat down when the telephone rang.

When Granny came back to the table her sandwich and chips were not there. Pooh-bear! Granny looked down at Pooh-bear’s bowl and all of Pooh-bear’s food was still there. Where is that little Pooh-bear?

Granny walked into the living room and sitting on the sofa was Pooh-bear. “Did you eat my food Pooh-bear?” Pooh-bear just sat there on the sofa looking at Granny with his tongue out licking his lips.

Granny also has a house cat named Tom and the cat does not like Mighty. You see it all started the day Granny brought home a gift for Mighty. The gift was a ball that Mighty could get in and roll all over the house.

Until Mighty learned how to run in the ball. He would run into the walls and furinture. Tom sat, watched and laughed hoping that Mighty would break the ball and Tom could have a little hamster snack.

Mighty never did break the ball but he learned how to make it go where he wanted it to go. Mighty could also make the ball go very fast. Mighty could go so fast that he could now chase Tom the house cat.

One day Tom did not know Mighty was in his ball rolling around the house when all of a sudden Tom heard a noise and before he could move Mighty hit the cat and rolled the ball right over him.

To this day if Mighty is in the ball rolling around house you can bet Tom is sitting on top of the couch hoping the ball will break.

“I think I would like to have some pancakes for breakfast Granny,” said Papa. “That sounds good,” said Granny. “I will get some of my homemade maple syurp and fresh brewed coffee.”

Granny goes to the kitchen washes her hands and puts on her apron. Granny then turns on the grill and mixes up the batter. As Granny turns around to pour the batter it drops from her hands and goes all over the grill. Wow thought Granny, what a big pancake!

Papa comes into the kitchen and sees the pancake. ”Thats a big pancake Granny, would you like to share it with me?” “Yes”, said Granny and they both started to laugh and laugh.
